Welcome to my blog through this pink ribbon journey....
I'm from the IOW, and I'm a 26 year old sports therapist and personal trainer. I opened a gym and fitness centre in June this year, after a year long amount of hurdles to get open. I've always been a pretty healthy, fit and sporty girl, never being ill or seeing a doctor until I was 21! And then 2015 came along!
On 28th October I was diagnosed with Grade 3 Invasive HER-2 Ductal Breast Cancer. At the age of 26 this was a massive shock! It all started with DVT's appearing in my legs back in July, the joys of being put on daily Clexane injections, and Warfarin which just wouldn't settle my blood clotting levels back down. And now it seems the last four months on crutches and anticoagulants are actually going to play a massive part in saving my life! The warning symptom that has eventually revealed a massive hormone imbalance, causing the Big C!
This blog is to try and raise some awareness, no matter how young, fit and healthy you are, you could still get Cancer. And the earlier you get checked out and onto treatment, the better your chance. Ill also be fundraising as I go, through various activities, mainly for the Applegate Nurses on the IOW but also for various other Breast Cancer charities, so if you have any ideas, events or you'd like to help me out, feel free to message!
